In Dune Awakening, the map is excessively large, which can sometimes make finding specific locations a chore. This is especially true if the spot you are looking for doesn’t have any quest markers attached to it. Further confusion can arise from the fact that the game has a regional map and a world map, and some locations only appear when you switch to the world map view.

One such location is the Wreck of the Hephaestus in Dune Awakening. Players seem to be having a tough time finding and reaching this particular spot. In this guide, we’ll explore how you can reach the Wreck of the Hephaestus in the game.

Where Is the Wreck of the Hephaestus in Dune Awakening?

The Wreck of the Hephaestus is a location that you’ll not find in the regional map of the game. Instead, you’ll need to access the world map section to find it. To do this, follow the steps mentioned below.

Step 1: Get inside an Ornithopter. If you don’t have one yet, craft one before you start looking for the Wreck of the Hephaestus location.

Step 2: Drive the Ornithopter to any of the edges of the regional map. As you fly past the edge, the world map will open.

Step 3: With the world map open, press M on PC to point out the various World Map locations. One of these is the Wreck of the Hephaestus. Simply click on it to begin tracking its location.

The wreckage is in the southeastern section of the World Map and you can get there easily while flying your Ornithopter.

Why Is Wreck of the Hephaestus an Important Location?

You will need to visit the Wreck of the Hephaestus location as part of the main game questline A Sign From Above. It is a late-game quest chain. Also, it’s the first main game mission where an Ornithopter is mandatory. This is perhaps a way to gatekeep the quest from players who simply haven’t advanced far enough in terms of their gear and equipment from accessing or completing the quest. The ‘A Sign From Above’ questline will begin immediately after you have completed all of Trials of Aql.
