Learn how to disable the Arcane Turrets guarding the Arcane Tower within the Underdark in Baldur’s Gate 3 Chapter 1.

The Arcane Tower is a veritable fortress located within the Underdark, guarded by multiple Arcane Turrets. These turrets are ever-vigilant sentries that track any intruders with a laser-like beam before firing at them. Unlike regular traps or enemies you may have faced before, Arcane Turrets cannot be dealt with using stealth or brute force. Instead, they force the player to come up with creative solutions or use a unique item found only in the Underdark.
In this article, we will discuss everything you need to know to deal with Arcane Turrets in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How To Disable Arcane Turrets in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Arcane Tower is located in the southwest section of the Underdark. There are two Arcane Turrets positioned outside the tower, in its courtyard. As soon as you come across the first Arcane Turret, use crouch to check its line of sight. After getting as close as you can without drawing fire from the turret, initiate turn-based mode. Move a character forward, take cover behind the rock spire, and use any of the following methods to disable the turret.

Sussur Flower Blooms

Sussur Blooms are flowers of the Sussur Tree, found on the northwest side of the Underdark. Pick up as many of them as you can find and return to the Arcane Tower courtyard. Sussur Blooms project an anti-magic field around them, disabling all magic and preventing the use of spells within it.
Choose the character with the Sussur Bloom in their inventory and enter turn-based mode. Move close to the Arcane Turret and use the Throw action to launch the Sussur Bloom at it. The Sussur Bloom’s anti-magic field will disable the Arcane Turret, and you can safely head past it to repeat the process with the next one.
Fog Cloud and Darkness

Any vision-obscuring spells like Fog Cloud work to disable the Arcane Turret. Use the same turn-based mode trick to get close to the Arcane Turret without being fired upon, and cast Fog Cloud on it. The major downside to this approach is that it is temporary, and the Fog Cloud spell will end in 10 turns. The Darkness spell or arrow will have a similar effect. You can continue to use turn-based mode to make the most of the 10 turns and get all your party members out of the turret’s range.
Lightning Damage
If you wish to try the brute force approach and destroy the Arcane Turrets, use lightning spells and attacks. The turrets are vulnerable to lightning damage and will take twice the damage dealt. You can use turn-based mode to fire a spell at the turret before hiding behind the rock, repeating the process until it is destroyed.
