Lies of P Overture is finally out in the wild, giving players a reason to jump back into Neowiz’s critically acclaimed souls-like once again. Overture is essentially a story expansion for Lies of P, adding new weapons, Legion Arms, and, of course, bosses. However, as is the case with any souls-like DLC, Overture is incredibly challenging, perhaps even more so than the base game.

The expansion is accessible from Chapter 10 onwards. However, ideally, you want to play Overture after finishing the base game and maxing out a few of the legendary weapons. Given the DLC’s nature as endgame content, some players might be curious whether they can play Overture on a New Game Plus (NG+) save, or not.

Well, Lies of P Overture can be played on NG+, albeit with some caveats. Here’s everything you need to know about Lies of P Overture and its requirements for New Game Plus.

Lies of P Overture follows the same rules across all New Game cycles. Essentially, you need to reach Chapter 9, defeat the Corrupted Parade Master, and only then can you start the DLC. This applies to New Game+ cycles as well. You cannot beeline to the Overture expansion right after starting New Game+.

However, on NG+, going through the game’s chapters is significantly easier and less time-consuming. You can basically beeline your way to the main story bosses until you reach Chapter 9. From there, once you repair the Hotel Krat’s Stargazer, you can simply head to the Path of the Pilgrim to start the Overture DLC. Otherwise, you can do the DLC after finishing the base game, as well.

Here are the steps to start the DLC (applies to NG+ as well):

  • Complete Chapter 9, defeat the Corrupted Parade Master, and repair the Stargazer.
  • After you repair the Stargazer in Hotel Krat, you will receive the Star’s Chrysalis.
  • With the Stars Chrysalis in your inventory, head to Path of the Pilgrim to start Overture.
  • You can also start the DLC after finishing the base game.

Is Lies of P Overture Worth Playing on New Game Plus?

As is the case with souls-likes, Lies of P scales difficulty with every New Game+ cycle. Meaning, enemies and bosses in NG+ cycles are going to be significantly harder than the standard New Game. The primary changes made to enemies and bosses in NG+ are their HP and attack power. However, if you invest in a build with good DPS or Advance stats, you can easily steamroll through New Game+.

That said, even with an optimized build, NG+ poses a significant challenge. As such, we don’t really recommend taking on the DLC on a New Game+ save. Instead, it’s best to create a fresh save, progress up to Chapter 9, and then start the DLC. That way, you’ll also get enough time with the game to practice your parry timings, dodges, and counterattacks.

However, if you want to jump straight into the DLC, you can do so on an NG+ save by turning down the difficulty. With Overture, Lies of P has received two new “easier” difficulty presets. You can use these lower difficulty settings to go through the DLC, even on an NG+ save. However, even at the easiest preset, Overture can be quite difficult. We recommend going for an Advance or Technique build to have an easier time with the expansion.

That said, Motivity builds can also work quite good against the bosses in Overture. As for the recommended level, if you’re on standard New Game, make sure to head to Overture at Level 80 or higher. On New Game+, we recommend tackling the DLC at Level 130 or higher. And for NG+2 and NG+3, we recommend Level 250-300, for an easier time with the DLC.
